Jonas Öberg

Jonas Öberg is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Free Software Foundation Europe, working with its staff, fellows and volunteers to promote freedom in the information society. Between 2001 and 2008 he also served as the foundation's vice president.

With a background in mathematics and software engineering, he has been a Shuttleworth Foundation Fellow, working on the project to create a global provenance repository for creative works and worked as Creative Commons' regional coordinator in Europe.

Before this, he taught courses in Free Software on a university level, with a focus on philosophical issues of Free Software, as well as lectured in software engineering. He built up the conference FSCONS in its original form and was the chief webmaster for the GNU Project in the late 90s.
