About
The Fellowship of the Free Software Foundation Europe is a community of people united by their interest in Free Software and freedom in all aspects of the digital age.
Most fellows have diverse interests and foci in Free Software. Issues like economic, legal, political, social, technical and scientific effects of Free Software are usually not equally important for all fellows and while some are working in Free Software, many are simply interested users.
The Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) is a non-profit non-governmental organisation dedicated to Free Software as in freedom. It is an organisation and network that itself is part of a global network of people with common goals and visions. If you wish to learn more about the FSFE, we recommend reading our self-conception.
The Fellowship is the easiest and most direct way to get involved in and remain informed about the Free Software Foundation Europe and our work. It is also the easiest way to support our work.
This is the place where we all come together.
About the Fellowship Logo
The Fellowship logo looks like a person with legs, representing how Free Software is about the person and the freedom it gives each of us without discrimination.
Everything begins and ends with the individual.
The Fellowship logo also looks like a plus, representing how each of us adds something to the community, how the community is formed by the sum of all its parts. In the Fellowship, similar to Free Software, we all work together and the community is the sum of all parts.
None of us stands alone.
Becoming a Fellow
Becoming a participant in the Fellowship means to demonstrate your interest in Free Software and contributing to spreading the idea of freedom it represents.
As a Fellow, you will not only receive a login on this portal where you can meet and collaborate with other Fellows and inform people about your activities, as well as be informed about the activities of others.
For a yearly Fellowship contribution of EUR 120,- (reduced rate EUR 60,-), each Fellow also receives a @fsfe.org email alias and a personalized OpenPGP crypto-card, putting the fellows at the spearhead of those who are aware of issues of privacy, security and digital self-determination. While governments struggle with the introduction of authentication, secure communication, digital signatures and encrypting personal data, that technology is already in the hands of each Fellow.
If you want to become part of the Fellowship, join now.
