Security for RTP

This folder contains some documents that discuss protocols, processes, and proposals how to establish and maintain secure RTP connections. This is of particuar interest for VoIP.

IETF Proposal how to do key negotiation for SRTP in SIP based VoIP (DTLS-SRTP)

This document discusses the DTLS-SRTP IETF proposal to exchange SRTP key material.

It contains a security analysis of the current IETF proposal how to perform key exchange to set up a secure RTP (SRTP) connection. The DTLS-SRTP key exchange protocol works only together with the SIP signaling protocol. Other signaling protocols were not considered by IETF. This seems strange because there are more signaling protocols available which are also discussed and described by IETF documents.
