I am not happy...
with the new cms. Forgive me this rant, but that's how I see it.
In blog entries, I have to use html tags to get proper formatting. In comments, they suddenly don't work anymore. (And I discovered the forum doesn't use them, either).
I cannot edit comments I made myself, either. D'oh, now these tags I put there will stay forever.
Don't get me wrong, but imho the old cms might not have been better, but at least I was able to use it more comfortably.
Why do I have to fiddle around with html tags in the first place? Not that I mind to much but I hardly do any html at all and I could normally not be bothered to deal with it. This waste's time and it doesn't make me more eager to publish content here, either.
Don't get me wrong, but we're all paying money for this service. I know, I know, its for a good cause, but even then I would expect some more "professional" care. As the situation is atm, people get discouraged to publish any work here, it simply much easier to do so at other places. And if people don't do stuff, how's this website supposed to properly take off, then?
I don't want to argue technicalities here, I don't do any cms (except using freeguppy for my personal home page) and you sure know things better than me. What I'd still like to know is why you folks did choose ezpublish and not something else?
Regards,
Dominik
P.S.: Feel free to flame me, I can take it.

These are two good points, which we will care about. We are throughoutly improving the CMS, and feedback like yours is valuable and helps us in doing that.

Re: I am not happy...
There is no need to flame and actually you have pointed out an inconsistency we didn't notice before.
We are developing a visual editor to use on eZ site so that we won't have to use tags. We will be able to give a more precise ETA for this product by the end of this week.
The choice of ezpublish was based on the availability of affordable and dedicated professional support for it. We were forced to migrate due to difficulties incurred within the support team of previous platform. eZ is still lacking a visual editor (for just a shor time, I promise) but it provides better blog (comments now work, there is trackback and more functions are being added) and we have added the forums.
With a more stable and growing platform we will be able to launch the projects for which the Fellowship exists. Thanks for your comments, don't give up and hold with us: we all are freeing the world

Hi Dominik,
you wrote: "In blog entries [...] I cannot edit comments I made myself".
This has been fixed: own comments in blogs now can be edited.

Alex
