Windows Genuine Advantage: Anti-piracy or...spying techniques?

Microsoft has taken their policy for authenticating users of their operating system Windows to a very suspicious level. Usually a Windows user could activate their OS with Microsoft through online and phone solutions.

Now Microsoft has changed the policy regarding these solutions. From now on Microsoft will check every Windows operating system. I'm asking myself: what influence does this have on the everyday lives of millions of computer users? It's rather unbelievable...

I do not doubt the fact that there is a greater possibility with this to unlock features for tracing illegal users of the Windows operating system.

But I'm asking myself serious questions regarding the fact that Microsoft is also checking hardware configurations.
Why is this necessary?
By this it is possible for Microsoft to sell data from customers to other companies, no?
Then they say it's for market analysis purposes; huh?
All good and well but how about the privacy of all those customers?

Clearly it seems to me that Microsoft is going too far here and it may be a matter of years before there will follow any legal actions against them but one thing is certain: The impact of Microsoft on our society is bigger than ever, but not in a particularly positive manner.

So be attentive, Windows users: Microsoft *is* (indeed...) watching you!
