Jonas Öberg is a co-founder of the Free Software Foundation Europe. Between 2001 and 2008 he served as the foundation's vice president, and between 2015 and 2018 as the foundation's Executive Director.
With a background in mathematics and software engineering, he has been a Shuttleworth Foundation Fellow, working on the Elog.io project to create a global provenance repository for creative works and worked as Creative Commons' regional coordinator in Europe.
Before this, he taught courses in Free Software on a university level, with a focus on philosophical issues of Free Software, as well as lectured in software engineering. He built up the conference FSCONS in its original form and was the chief webmaster for the GNU Project in the late 90s.
