Refund4Freedom

The Free Software Foundation Europe, joining forces with the Italian Linux Society (ILS) has launched the Refund4Freedom initiative to protect consumer rights and defend the principle of Device Neutrality when buying a new computer.

Refund4Freedom

The Refund4Freedom initiative was born from the need to defend users’ right to choose the operating system they run on their devices.

Today, most laptops are sold with pre-installed software, often including Windows, meaning that consumers may pay for licenses they do not want or use. Refund4Freedom challenges this practice by advocating for Device Neutrality: clear separation between hardware and software pricing, simple and accessible refunds for unused software licenses, and the right of everyone to freely choose the software that runs on their devices.
