Jonas Öberg, FSFE's executive director, will give the keynote at
FOSSCon Korea, talking about how massive collaboration between
individuals and business have shaped the free software
environment in recent years, and how this explosion of activity,
properly nurished and given the right scaffolding, is an
opportunity to shape the standards for free software in the future.
FOSSCon Korea is organised by the Korean National IT Industry

Yearly Netherlands Fellowshipmeeting in Eindhoven, the Netherlands

This year, the Netherlands Fellowshipmeeting will be at . T-DOSE is a free and yearly event
held in The Netherlands to promote use and development of Open Source
Software. This year's event will be held on 28 and 29 November 2015 at
the Fontys University of Applied Science, Rachelsmolen 1, in Eindhoven.
FSFE Netherlands will be there with a booth on both days. The yearly
Fellowshipmeeting will start on 28 November at 16:00h. This
invitation is for everyone interested in the FSFE or Free Software.

FSFE will be pleased to join the Toulouse event “Le Capitole du Libre”
for the first time. With a booth, FSFE activists are looking forward
to meeting other associations and individuals. FSFE's French Coordinator
and Legal Team member Hugo Roy will give two talks, one is an introduction
to free software licenses, the other is a talk about the Skype case,
reverse engineering and decompilation law in France and Europe.
The FSFE will be present with a booth organised by the Vienna Fellowship
group at the 17th "Linuxday" in Dornbirn in the border region of Austria,
Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland on November 21, 2015. In three
parallel tracks, there will be talks on Free Software for Novices, Experts
and Managers.

Kirschner will participate in a workshop at the "Open IT Summit". It

FSFE will be at the brandly new “Open Source Summit” near Paris, in
La Plaine Seint-Denis. With a booth, we are looking forward to meeting
the participants and discussing policy, legal and other issues in
Free Software.
Guido Arnold, FSFE's edu-team coordinator, will give a talk about
"Free Software in education – A glance at Europe" at FSCONS in
Gothenburg, Sweden. The talk will discuss a few examples how Free Software is
being used in Europe, how its use is politically backed, why the decision was
made to migrate and which challenges were encountered.
CopyCamp is an international conference aiming to understand the social Impacts of copyright and is located in Warsaw, Poland. Matija Šuklje, coordinator of the FSFE legal team, is giving a talk about the "Implications of the EU Copyright Reform on Free Software". If not talking you can meet him as well as FSFE community coordinator Erik Albers at the FSFE booth.
On Tuesday 3 November at 14:00 FSFE's President Matthias Kirschner
will give a talk about “An endangered species: the computer as a

Birthday party in Berlin: 30 years Free Software Foundation

On 3 October 2015 Free Software Foundation Europe invites you for the 30th birthday party of the Free Software Foundation. While the main event will take place in Boston/USA, there will be several satellite birthday parties around the world to celebrate 30 years of empowering people to control technology, and one of them will be in Berlin.
The Free Software Foundation was founded in 1985 and since then promotes
computer users' rights to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer
programs. It also helps to spread awareness of the ethical and political issues
of freedom in the use of software.
The birthday party in Berlin, organised by FSFE, will take place from
15:00 to 18:00 on 3 October 2015 at: Endocode AG, Brueckenstraße
5A, 10179 Berlin.
To make sure that FSFE's donor Endocode can provide enough birthday cake and coffee, please register before 15 September 2015 for the event by sending us an e-mail with the subject "FSF30".

DebConf is the annual Debian developers meeting, an event filled with discussions, workshops and coding parties – all of them highly technical in nature. DebConf15, the 16th Debian Conference, will be held from the 15th to the 22nd of August 2015 at Heidelberg International youth hostel in Heidelberg, Germany. FSFE will be there with a booth at the weekend of 15th to 16th August.
On August 13 - 17 there will be the Chaos Communication Camp, close to Zehdenick, Germany, organised by the Chaos Computer Club. The camp presents itself as "an international, five-day open-air event for hackers and associated life-forms". FSFE will be present with an own village throughout the days to welcome every interested person, friend and sustaining members. The village will offer promotion material, merchandise and contact with people from the FSFE. You can use the village as a meeting point, to hangout or to have a chat about current activities as well as your own ideas. You will find power supply and ethernet connectivity as well. You can also use our village for a self-organised session, please contact eal@fsfe.org to plan any activity.

Euskal Encounter is a huge LAN-Party at Bilbao Exhibition Center at Barrakaldo/Bizkaia. More than 4000 gamers are filling a huge exhibition hall. Besides, there are some talks and an exhibition area. FSFE will attend with a booth, together with friends from safecreative.org and others.

On 14 May there will be the OpenTech Summit, a one-day conference about Free Software, free knowledge and open hardware in the Kalkscheune in Berlin. On this occasion the FSFE will be present with a booth to discuss Free Software with you. From May 14 to 17 there will be the 3rd Commons Fest happening in Athens, Greece. Richard Stallman will give a keynote during these days and Nikos Roussos, FSFE's coordinator Greece, will run a cryptoparty. FSFE will also be present with an info booth. Details follow soon.
From May 9 to 10 there will be the second edition of the Open Source Conference Albania (OSCAL). Peter Bubestinger, FSFE's coordinator Austria, gives a keynote about "FFmpeg's FFV1 lossless video codec: A Free Software success story" and insights about video editing using Free Software. FSFE will be present with an information booth.
The "Concurso Universitario de Software Libre" (CUSL) is a contest among students from different Universities in Spain. On May 7 and 8 there will be an awarding ceremony in the University of Zaragoza. Erik Albers gives a keynote about "Free Software, local economy and its political realization".
With more than 100 lectures and workshops the Linuxwochen Vienna in the FH Technicum is one of the biggest community-organized events in Vienna. The event offers a great variation of topics, including open source and hardware, 3D printing, system administration, software development and privacy & security. FSFE will be present with a booth and is looking forward to interesting discussions and informations about Free Software. The event takes place from the 7th to the 9th of May at the FH Technikum Wien. The admission is free.

Local FSFE meeting with a talk about video streaming with Free Software in Berlin, Germany

On Thursday, April 9, there is the next local FSFE meeting Berlin, as usual in the e-lok (near Ostkreuz). This time, Gregor will talk about video streaming only using Free Software, about the potential of WebRTC and the built-in solution by Firefox (hello). Our meetings are a good possibility to meet other Fellows as well as other Free Software enthusiasts. You can get good food and best drinks at e-lok for a reasonable price and good mood for no cost. Official start is at 19:30.
On March 15th and 16th, there will be a FSFE booth during the Chemnitzer Linux-Tage, an event dedicated to everything about GNU/Linux and Free Software. Just pass by the booth to get to know people from the FSFE as well as other Fellows. The booth will also come with brand new merchandise and promotion material.

On March 20, FSFE's president Karsten Gerloff will discuss Free
Software and compliance at a seminar in Tokyo, Japan. As Free
Software permeates ever more areas of commercial activity,
it is important for companies to understand what they need to do in
order to fulfil their obligations under Free Software licenses, and
to develop best practices to manage the use of Free Software in
their products.
On 16 March 2015, Matthias Kirschner will participate in a panel discussion
about patents, standards and Free Software organised by the European Patent
Office. The discussion takes place at Cebit in hall 8 from 16:00 to 16:45.
The other people on the panel are Grant Philpott (Principal Director, EPO),
Brian Hinman (Chief Intellectual Property Officer, Philips), Gabriele
Mohsler (VP Patent Development IPR and Licensing, Ericsson), and Koen
Lievens (Director in ICT, EPO).
Fellows of the FSFE will have a vote for the seventh elections for FSFE's
Fellowship representative. Every Fellow who is allowed to
vote should have received an email from “FSFE Fellowship (CIVS poll supervisor)”
with the subject “Poll: Fellowship elections 2015”. Please find all
necessary information for you to vote inside this email.
The winner of the election will be publicly announced on March 16 on
FSFE's web page.

On Monday 23 February, Matthias Kirschner will participate in a panel
discussion about the necessary general framework to foster diversity and
competition in the digital economy. The panel discussion is part of an
event organised by the Green party about market power, competition, and
diversity in the digital economy (Marktmacht, Wettbewerb und Vielfalt in
der digitalen Wirtschaft). It takes place in the German Parliament,
Reichstagsgebäude, Room RTG 3 N 039, Platz der Republik 1, 11011 Berlin
