At the Linux Foundation's Open Compliance Summit in Japan, Karsten
Gerloff will relate FSFE's experience with building and running the
world's largest network of legal experts on Free Software, and how
the dialogue taking place there has a positive impact on industry practices.

On December 12 will be the next Berlin Fellowshipmeeting in the e-lok (near Ostkreuz). Erik will discuss with us different possibilities about how to "Save online content and read it while you or the content is offline". Included is a live-presentation of the software "Zotero". In addition, there will be a report about FSFE's official activities during the last month.
As usual, the Fellowship meeting is a good possibility to meet other Fellows as well as other Free Software enthusiasts. You can get good food and best drinks at e-lok for a reasonable price and good mood for no cost. Official start is at 19:30.

At FOSSCon Korea 2013 in Seoul, South Korea, FSFE's President will
summarise current Free Software policies in Europe, and discuss
what lessons we can draw from them.

Nermin Canik, together with volunteers, organises the first FSFE booth in Turkey. On November 23, during the Free Web Technology Days ("Özgür Web Teknolojileri Günleri") in Yeditepe University, İstanbul. You are welcome to visit FSFE's booth and to meet local people behind our movement.

Christian Kalkhoff, Fellowship Coordinator Munich, gives a presentation about "The work of the FSFE in Europe, Germany and Munich" during Munichs "Open-Source-Treffen". Content will be the work of FSFE and its affiliate activists on all levels of politic and society. Kalkhoff will show Munichs Fellowship group as an example of how principles and campaigns of the FSFE can be realised on a local level. The event begins at 6 pm.

On the 19th of November there will be a second session
of the MutterWare, which Hugo started back in March.
The MutterWare is a meeting of users of the mail client mutt, either
long-time experts, just beginners, or even not-yet-users. It's about
discussing the functionalities, exchanging tips and hacks, and enjoying a
good talk.
The meeting will take place in Mozilla's Parisian new offices near the
Grands Boulevards, starting at 8p.m.

Berlin Fellowship meeting
14 November 2013
On November 14 there will be next Berlin Fellowship meeting that is going to take place at e-lok (next to Ostkreuz). Silvan will discuss variuos opportunities with us to use Free Software for your calender management. In addition we will talk about FSFE's last months activities.
As usual, the Fellowship meeting is a good possibility to meet other Fellows as well as other Free Software enthusiasts. You can get good food and best drinks at e-lok for a reasonable price and good mood for no cost. Official start is at 19:30.

As in the last years FSFE will have a booth at the Open Rhein Ruhr. Beside the FSFE's Vice President Matthias Kirschner will give a talk about 7 misunderstandings about Free Software on Saturday at 12:20, and a talk about an endangered species: the universal computer. The event will take place at the Rheinisches Industriemuseum in Oberhausen, Germany. Entrance fee is 5 EUR.

On 29 October Bernhard Reiter will give an introduction to Free Software
at the PRTR capacity-building workshop, initiated by the German Federal
Environment Agency. The workshop will take place from Tuesday 29 October
2013 (all day) to Wednesday 30 October 2013 (morning only) in Berlin,
Germany.
Hacking for Compliance, Berlin, Germany
26 October 2013
On Saturday 26 October 2013 from 14:00 to 19:00 compliance volunteers
will check devices' compliance with the GNU GPL. Harald Welte from gpl-violations.org, and one of
our lawyers will support the volunteers during the day in FSFE's Berlin office. The event is by
invitation only, if you want to participate contact Matthias Kirschner.

technology is shifting power in our society, and what we need to
do in order to put it where it belongs: With the citizens.

For the second time in FSFE's history, the General Assembly will take place
in Vienna, Austria. As usual, there will be a social event on Saturday
evening. Please join us at Metalab, Vienna's finest hackerspace, on
Saturday, October 12, starting at 20:00 CEST. You will have the chance to
discuss Free Software issues over drinks and beats with many of FSFE's GA

On October 4, FSFE president Karsten Gerloff will give two talks at the Paris conference Open World Forum. With five other speakers he will firsty lead the track Meshed Society and Freedom to Innovate, before presenting the talk "Public procurement: Free Software's wild frontier".
28 – 29 September 2013
The GNU project started on September 27, 1983. This month, its anniversary is celebrated around the world by the GNU community and Free Software activists. The Berlin Fellowship group, staff members and volunteers will meet in the Berlin Hackerspace C-base on September 28, to celebrate 30 years of GNU. Join and take action everyday with GNU-a-Day, six more software freedom actions until the end of September.

From September 27 to September 29 there will be FSFE's first European Coordinators Meeting to connect our Fellowship community activities. Participation is limited to active volunteers and Fellows that receive an invitation but there will be a public event to meet on Saturday, 28.

On September 21st, the "Dia de la LLibertat Programari" (Software Freedom Day) Daniel Marti, Intern at FSFE, will give a talk about F-Droid and the "Free Your Android" campaign in Barcelona, Spain. The talk will be given at the "Centre Cultural Les Corts" and starts at 10 a.m.

On September 12, the FSFE will host a panel discussion "Internet policy - Only with Free Software?" including representatives from the biggest youth organisations of the political parties that run for the Bundestag in 2013. The panel discussion will be from 19 - 21 hours with a following stand-up reception. The event takes place in the Büro 2.0, Weigandufer 45, 12059 Berlin. The event is public and attendance for no cost.

On Saturday, 3rd of August 2013, Richard Stallman, founder of the Free
Software Foundation and the Free Software movement, will be inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame by the Internet Society association. The induction ceremony is open to the public, but as seats are limited, you need to register.

Computing from point of Free Software developers". It is part of a one
day workshop on Trusted Computing, the German Government's white paper
on this topic, and what it means for companies. The event takes
place at the Ministry of Economics, Invalidenstraße 48, 10115 Berlin and
is invitation only.

FSFE at the 14th edition of the Libre Software meeting in Brussels. On July 9 FSFE organises a discussion panel on Technology, Power and Freedom with some of the world's foremost advocates of digital freedom and leading members of the European Parliament (MEP) on digital issues. Participants will be Karsten Gerloff (FSFE), Eben Moglen (Columbia University), Judith Sargentini (MEP Greens/EFA), Christel Schaldemose (MEP S&D -tbc), Richard M Stallman (FSF), Nils Torvalds (MEP ALDE), Ioannis A. From July 6-11, 2013, several thousand people will come to Brussels from all over Europe to participate in the Libre Software meeting, one of Europe's largest conferences for Free Software developers, technology entrepreneurs and civil society activists. FSFE will be present with two booths, a great panel discussion and a talk by Karsten Gerloff. Come and meet us!

On Monday 24th June the Bitkom working group for Free Software is
organising an event under the banner "Take home benefits". It will start at
10:00 and last until 17:15. At 16:00 Matthias Kirschner will take
part in a panel discussion about the question how many Free Software
organisations we need. Other participants on the panel moderated by Dr.
Oliver Diedrich (heise) are Peter Ganten (OSB Alliance), Richard Seibt
(OSBF e.V.), and Dr. Johannes Loxen (LA Software, BITKOM e.V.). The event
will take place in the Kalkscheune, Johannisstraße 2, 10117 Berlin.

Fellowship Group Rhein/Main will be present at Community-Event "Fuxcon" in Frankfurt, Germany

On Saturday, June 15th, the Fellowship group Rhein/Main will be present with a booth at FUXCON, a community event that invited all usergroups in and around Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
01 – 02 June 2013
For the first time, FSFE will participate in the Coliberator
conference in Bucharest, Romania.
At the invitation of FSFE's associate organisation Ceata Karsten Gerloff will speak about
technology, power and control. He will also describe FSFE's work to
build public awareness for Free Software, and to create the
foundations of a free information society.
22 – 25 May 2013
FSFE will have several talks and a booth at Linuxtag 2013 in Berlin this year. Information, merchandising and a friendly chat will be available at our booth at Berlin's exibition ICC.

FSFE will have a booth at the Toulouse Hacker Space Factory (THSF) from Mai 22 to 26, in Toulouse, France. The THSF is one of France's biggest general public meeting dealing with creative and political uses of technology.

Next Friday, 17th of May, from 9.30 to 13 it will take place in Milan the "Software Etico" meeting, promoted by Joomla!Lombardia. Diego Zanga, Fellow of FSFE, will cover the subject "Free Software in Public administration"
Free Software, thanks to the communities linked to projects, is today a big and accountable reality, able to give to industry and to community more advantages than propietary software.
The main aim of the meeting is to show to local stakeholders - local administration, firms, associations, family groups, etc - that Free Software is viable, thanks to the sustainability of its business model, and is socially ethical and fair. The meeting will be held in Italian.

#opennrw about "OpenDate through Open Standards". The talk will start
at 11:45 hrs in the parlieament of North Rhine Westphalia in Dusseldorf,
Germany.

FSFE will participate in the Croatian Open Systems
Conference in Zagreb.
FSFE's president Karsten Gerloff will speak about technology, power
and control (May 15, 11:00), and discuss FSFE's work to build a free
information society (May 16, 9:00). Matija Šuklje, FSFE's legal
coordinator, will hold a clinic to answer questions on licensing and
other legal aspects of Free Software.

The first official meeting of FSFE's Fellowship group in Bari will Will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 16:00. The meeting will be at Hotel Parco dei Principi, Viale Europa 6 (a short distance from the airport Bari-Palese). All Fellows, new and old, are invited to participate and to establish the new group and to plan
our work. The meeting room is booked in the name of Marco Brushes.

FSFE is present with an information and merchandise booth at the 12th
"Linux-Infotag Augsburg". The event takes place on 23 March 2013 from 9:30 to
17:30 in the IT faculty of the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences,
Germany. Admission is free.

The "Chemnitz Linux Days" is a conference that deals with GNU/Linux and Free Software. It is open for everyone, novizes and experts alike. The FSFE will be presented with a booth where you can inform yourself about our work and to get to know the people behind FSFE. Another way of presentation are two talks which will be given by Matthias Kirschner and Erik Albers.
Matthias Kirschner's topic is "Vom Aussterben bedroht: Die Universalmaschine Computer" and will talk on Saturday (16/03) at 14:00 in room V2; Erik Albers's "All about FreeYourAndroid!" will be discussed on Sunday (17/03) at 14:00 in room V1.

Berlin Fellowship meeting
14 March 2013
On 14th of March there will be the next Berlin Fellowship meeting and it is going to take place at e-lok (next to Ostkreuz). Karsten Gerloff, President of the FSFE, will be visiting the Fellowship meeting and is looking forward to meet you. On this occasion we are celebrating a GnuPG-Key-signing party with the slogan: "Key Signing Party - Have it signed by the President!"
Besides that we will discuss Berlin's DFD award that now turned into Germany's DFD award. If you like to take part in the awarding ceremony, don't miss to come to the Fellowship meeting to discuss all details.

Presentation about Free Software on mobile devices at CeBIT

On Tuesday, March 5th, Erik Albers gives a presentation at the CeBIT Open Source Forum about "Get full control of your device - Free Your Android". The presentation begins at 4 p.m. with a discussion afterwards. The Forum is in Hall 6, Stand F02.

The Hackerspace in Jena, "Krautspace", is organising a "Free Your Android" workshop. Erik Albers from the FSFE will come and give the workshop. Afterwards, the participants will be able to host FYA workshops on their own and will do so in April.
The event will take place in the 'Krautspace', Jena, on 23.02. beginning at 15 hours. Please register before.

Richard Stallman, the president of the Free Software Foundation, will give a speech in the Aula Magna, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest in February 22nd. He will be speaking about "Free Software
and Your Freedom". The event is organised by Fundația Ceata, a group of people based in Bucharest that fights for computer users' freedom which is now the first Romanian Free Software foundation.

This year, FOSDEM will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2013 in Brussels. FSFE will participate with a booth and three talks. Henrik Sanklef, Vice president of FSFE, will speak about Searduino Searduino on Saturday afternoon (at 14:20); Otto Kekäläinen, our finnish fellowship coordinator, will speak about fixing public procurement on Sunday afternoon (at 16:00); Eric Albers, Outreach coordinator, will speak about Free Your Android - phone liberation parties on Sunday (at 14:00). As like every year, we're looking forward to many meetings and discussions and also to a very good time for all.

Alexander Alvaro, Vice President of the European Parliament, is hosting a "Free Your Android" event on February 1st, at 16h00. There will be talks given by Erik Albers, Dimitrios Symeonidis and Cheryl D. Miller. If you are thinking about liberating your phone, you shouldn't miss this event. And if you have already liberated your phone, there will be an opportunity for you as well as for everyone interested to make professional recordings of testimonials running free software on mobile devices.
The event will take place in the 'Altiero Spinelli building', elevator G, 5th floor, room A5G375. You have to register, but registration is open and public.

To begin the GNU year, FSFE fellows and free software activists will gather for a meeting in Paris to discuss topics such as how to promote freedom and privacy-respecting Android mobile systems, and engage a debate on how to deal with social networks in the internet age with the GNU Consensus initiative.
