Young Generation Activities
Since its foundation in 2001, the FSFE has been working every single day to further software freedom in Europe and beyond. Beside the activities below, a large part of our work consists of continuous engagement and background work contributing at events and answering questions and enquiries around software freedom.
Our vision:that young people have the opportunity to tinker, experiment and code with Free Software as the default.
"Ada & Zangemann" book and movie
The illustrated book animated movie "Ada & Zangemann - a tale of software, skateboards, and raspberry ice cream" by the FSFE, tells the story of the famous inventor Zangemann and the girl Ada, a curious tinkerer. Ada begins to experiment with hardware and software, and in the process realises how crucial it is for her and others to control technology.
Youth Hacking 4 Freedom
Junge Menschen aus ganz Europa können am Programmierwettbewerb, „Youth Hacking 4 Freedom“ teilnehmen. Die einzige Bedingung für die Teilnahme ist, dass die entwickelten Programme unter einer Freien Software Lizenz veröffentlicht werden. Es winken verschiedene Geldpreise, und die sechs Gewinner:innen werden zur feierlichen Preisverleihung eingeladen. „Youth Hacking for Freedom“ inspiriert junge Menschen dazu, Programmieren zu lernen und zusammenzuarbeiten.
